Understanding the Abortion Pill: Process and Benefits

The abortion pill is a safe, non-surgical way to end an early pregnancy, typically up to 10 weeks from your last menstrual period. This option offers privacy and comfort, allowing you to complete most of the process at home. Our team guides you every step of the way, ensuring you understand what to expect and how to care for yourself during the process.

How Does the Abortion Pill Work?

  1. Consultation: You’ll receive a confidential consultation—either in-person at one of our Maryland clinics or with pre-visit information provided—so you fully understand the medical abortion process.
  2. Medication Administration: The abortion pill involves two medications: mifepristone (which blocks pregnancy hormones) and misoprostol (which induces the pregnancy to pass).
  3. At-Home Care: After taking the first pill at the clinic, you’ll take the second medication at home as instructed. Our staff is always available for questions or support.
  4. Follow-Up: We schedule a follow-up to ensure your health and confirm that the process is complete.

Many patients from West Virginia find the abortion pill to be a preferred option because it allows for privacy and control over the process. Our clinics are committed to providing all the information and reassurance you need.
