Wondering What Your Abortion Options Are Near Washington D.C.?

Ever feel like your head is spinning from trying to figure out what the abortion pill is, or how in-clinic procedures work? You’re not alone. When faced with a pregnancy decision, patients from Washington D.C. often tell us the hardest part isn’t choosing—it’s finding solid information without judgment or confusion.

At Potomac Family Planning Center, we believe clarity is the antidote to fear. Let’s talk through what your real options look like when you’re coming from D.C.

Easy to Reach from D.C. with Three Maryland Locations

Our clinics in Baltimore, Rockville, and Hagerstown, MD serve many patients traveling from the D.C. area each week. Some come because they want faster appointment availability; others prefer the privacy of crossing state lines.

Here’s the good news:

  • By Car: Most patients drive under an hour to Rockville or Baltimore.
  • By Train: The MARC system makes getting to Rockville or Baltimore surprisingly simple.
  • By Air: BWI Airport offers fast connections, with quick rideshare options to any of our locations.

People are often shocked at how little time it takes, and how much peace of mind it brings, to come see us.

Understanding the Abortion Pill: A Private Option Up to 10 Weeks

Let’s demystify it: the abortion pill is a two-medication process.

  • Mifepristone stops the pregnancy from progressing.
  • Misoprostol, taken later, helps your body empty the uterus.

Many patients choose this option because it feels private and familiar, like managing a heavy period at home. It’s safe and over 90% effective if taken as directed. And while mild cramping and bleeding are common, you’ll have detailed instructions and our team to call if you’re concerned.

Patients tell us they value being able to rest in their own space, on their own timeline.

Uterine Aspiration Abortion up to 17 Weeks: A Quick, Safe Procedure

Sometimes the abortion pill isn’t the right fit, or the pregnancy is beyond 10 weeks. That’s where uterine aspiration abortion comes in.

  • Performed up to 17 weeks gestation.
  • The actual procedure takes only 5 to 10 minutes once you’re in the treatment room.
  • Sedation options are available if you’d like to feel more relaxed.

Many patients say they’re relieved to learn it’s so quick and straightforward. And recovery is often fast, letting you get back to normal life sooner than you might expect.

Expedited Abortion Services, For When Time Is Tight

Living in Washington D.C. means packed schedules and endless responsibilities. We get it. That’s why we offer expedited abortion services at our Rockville and Baltimore clinics.

  • Lab work, ultrasound, and consultation happen swiftly in a single visit.
  • Keeps your total clinic time short.
  • Carries a $300 additional fee, reflecting priority scheduling and faster processing.

It’s about giving you back your time, so you can move forward without your entire day consumed by appointments.

VIP Abortion Services, A Private Experience for Ultimate Comfort

Some patients want more than privacy, they want exclusivity and calm. Our Rockville clinic offers VIP abortion services, designed for ultimate peace of mind.

  • You’re the only patient scheduled during your visit.
  • A gynecologist, anesthetist (if sedation is used), nurse, and counselor are entirely focused on your care.
  • Your chosen guest can stay with you right up until any private medical steps begin and join you afterward for recovery.

This entire VIP experience usually takes under two hours. It’s discreet, unhurried, and deeply personalized. For many, it’s the best way to manage a difficult day with as little stress as possible.
