Understanding the Abortion Pill: What to Expect

The abortion pill, also known as medication abortion, is a non-surgical method for ending an early pregnancy. This process typically involves taking two medications—mifepristone and misoprostol—within the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. The method is safe, effective, and allows you privacy and comfort during the process.

  1. First Appointment: You’ll receive a medical evaluation and the first medication (mifepristone) at one of our clinics. Our caring staff will answer any questions and explain the process in detail.
  2. Second Medication: The second medicine, misoprostol, is typically taken at home 24–48 hours later, causing the pregnancy to end and the uterus to empty, similar to a heavy period.
  3. Follow-Up: We provide a follow-up appointment or phone check-in to ensure your health and well-being.
